Is there anyone still there?????

Hello? It's me. Remember? I'm still here! I've just seen that this is only my second post this month, which is pretty poor....but it was either post or finish....and the finishes had to win, for obvious reasons, that close to Christmas!
Did you all have a lovely Christmas? Or lovely time, for those who don't celebrate it? Mine was the usual round of eating, eating and eating...and just when I think I couldn't squeeze in another crumb, I go ahead and open a box of chocolates. Oh well...I suppose I could claim that I needed to make back the calories I lost due to a rather unpleasant tummy bug just before the big day. I'll spare you the details; suffice to say that it's one of the "perks" of working with children-the little darlings share EVERYTHING!
On a huge plus point, I followed Gordon Ramsay's advice, on what to do with a turkey. I'm not a major turkey fan (and had indeed tried to convince The Husband to try something different...to no avail) as I tend to find it a bit dry, no matter what I try. Now, I realise that most of you probably sail through Dry Turkey Syndrome, but you must remember that I am Cuisine-ally Challenged. So, following Gord's example, I spent a rather unpleasant 20 minutes pushing a buttery mess underneath the poor creature's skin. The turkey, not Mr Ramsay. The next tip was to let the bird stand/rest for the same amount of time that it had cooked. This bit was scarier than the buttery mess bit.....leave the turkey to one side for a full 3 hours????? Well, I did it (fully prepared to sue if my Christmas Dinner was ruined!) and it was the BEST THING EVER!!!! I had an oven free to pop in all the extras and trimmings, without the usual Krypton Factor style puzzles as to what could go where....and the turkey was moist and tender. Mr Gordon Ramsay, I salute you. I am converted.
As for other Christmas Day excitement, my darling children gave me a glue gun. A beautiful pink one. I know that I have survived for nearly 48 years, without needing one.....but all of a sudden, I NEEDED one. I don't even have any particular projects in mind.....I just couldn't imagine further life without one! Watch this space!
And now that the Race Against Time that was my lead up to Christmas is behind me, I've found time to whip up a small (36"x36") quilt top for a friend's new baby boy......

I used the pattern from Camille Roskelley's book "Simply Retro", which I've used before. It's so effective and comes together quickly and easily.....just my cup of tea. Talking of which....I feel a brew coming on, so I shall love you and leave you.
Thank you for popping by, and hopefull I'll see you soon. xx

A Race Against Time.....

.....and I'm edging ahead! I'm not saying I'll win the race yet, but at least I'm now in with a fighting chance!!
A lot of busy-ness (and some VERY late nights!) and I have an order finished before the deadline....

The remit was "squares and she likes blue".....I think (and hope like billy-o!) that this fits the bill. The photo was taken in a bit of a rush this morning, as we were late for a football match (Heaven forbid!) so it is more blurred than usual.
I also managed to get a birthday present finished. It's only a lap quilt, but I have it on good authority that the recipient likes this fabric. I have no idea what it's called, as I've had it in my stash for a while. Maybe it didn't have a name....Norma-No-Name fabric.

When I say "finished", I obviously still have to hand sew the binding down, but as yesterday morning it was still in fabric squares, I don't think I've done too badly.

Thought I'd give you a close up of the fabric and quilting detail. Just because.
I have been doing other sewing too, but am unable to show you just yet, as it's for other's gifts and they could just be lurking in the shadows, taking a sneaky peak. I'm lucky enough to have six birthdays to buy (make?) for in December, so what with those AND Christmas gifts, you can imagine just how nimble my fingers are having to be. (That sounds quite virtuous...but they're the only part of me being nimble! The rest of me is still doing reasonable sloth impressions.)
Also today, I had a huge tidy through, sorting out fabric, putting it away in my drawers and cupboards, hoovering and dusting....catching up on all the chores that had been put aside so that I could sew. While I was on a roll, I decided to decorate for Christmas. This is a grand way of saying that I've put fairy lights and candles on most, if not all, available surfaces. I couldn't say "I've put the Christmas decorations up", as this year I simply couldn't face the whole unwrapping ornaments, clearing stuff away to make room for said unwrapped ornaments....only to reverse the whole process in a couple of weeks time. I'm sorry to sound like a huge Bah Humbug...it's very unlike me. Normally, as soon as I see that sparkly, red Coca Cola lorry wending it's way across my TV screen (Holidays are coming...Holidays are coming...) sometime in the middle of September, I'm there...all geared up and raring to go. Sadly, not this year. Still, the house is all of a twinkle and a glow, and looks reasonably festive, so it's better than a slap in the face with a wet fish, and maybe (just maybe?) I'll be bitten by the bug just in the nick of time, and I'll jump to my usual Santa's Grotto-ish-ness!
So until then, I'll bid you farewell and get on with finishing that binding. Thanks for popping by. xx

Charity Begins At Home.......

A little while ago, you may remember I showed you a little pile of trimmings.

(I thought I'd be kind and refresh your memory!)
Well, that project was one that had been asked of me....a quilt to donate as a raffle prize, for a national charity. The project came together nicely over the last couple of weeks, and now looks like this.....

I do so love a pretty Tanya Wheelan print. Or two.

For the back and binding, I went a little dotty..........

It would appear that I also love a polka dot. Or two. Too.
But what I really love, is that something that started so simply, here at home, with a little bit of time, knowledge and skill, is now on it's way to help others that do so much in helping people at bad times in their lives, and will hopefully bring a little happiness to whoever buys the winning ticket................
Now that this particular project has been completed, stand by your beds.....Christmas Projects here I come!!
Must dash now.....running late. For everything. Again. xx

Let's Vote On It.....

Between now and Christmas I've got 5 birthdays, UMPTEEN Christmas presents and then 3 more birthdays before the New Year is even a week old. I also have 2 quilt orders hovering in the wings. As you can imagine, my "To Do List" (if I was a List Maker...which I'm not...but if I WAS....) is full to overflowing. Logically I should be knuckling down......however....
Just look at this little pretty.....

...I made it using the "Bento Box" pattern that I bought from www.tikkilondon.com last week. I couldn't help myself. It kept whispering to me from underneath the To Do List. I can't tell you how much I enjoyed making this little mat. It's mostly origami with fabric and some fussy cutting thrown in for good measure. I changed how I attached the squares and am glad that I did, as it made my stitches more even on the back.
However....this is NOT a birthday present. Nor is it a Christmas present. Nor can I think of anyone to give it to. Nor do I use mats. But it is pretty.
And that brings me to this post's title....I'm sure I'm not the only one aboard the I've Got So Much To Make And Not Enough Time To Do It In Boat (though I may be the only one daft enough to spend time working on something that doesn't earn a tick on The Imaginary List), so I propose we take a vote on postponing Christmas until around the middle of March. Sheer Brilliance. What do you think??
I'm going to finish this post now, in case you vote against me, and I do actually have to get a wriggle on. See you soon. xx

A Day In The Country.......

.....well, not quite, as yesterday we left The New Forest, and headed for London, to meet Daughter No 2 for the day.
I'll let you into a little secret: a 20 year old daughter who loves to shop and a 9 year old son who doesn't, aren't always the easiest combination to share your day with. Surprised? So I came up with another idea.
We met my daughter at Kew and had a lovely cuppa, before strolling along the road, where, what a coincidence (!!!) there just HAPPENED to be a fabulous little quilting shop. Let's just say that I was brought up to do my homework properly.
So, a lovely few minutes was spent browsing in Tikki ( www.tikkilondon.com ) where it's JUST possible I may have made a purchase....or two.....

There was a very sweet little quilt on display, that was in a design that I'd not seen before, so obviously I was FORCED to buy the pattern....you know how it is....I'd have regretted it forever amen had I not bought it.........

............more on that later, I'm sure.
And that was the sum total of any retail therapy, because then we headed for Richmond Park. None of us had ever been before, and as we had The Lovely Belle with us, it was the ideal solution to keeping both my offspring content. I really had no idea that it was sssssoooooo large! A large slice of peaceful heaven sitting just outside the hustle and bustle of our capital city..........................................
Richmond Park, as most of you will know, is a Royal Park, and if proof were needed........

There were also some new playmates for Belle. If only you could have seen how keen she was to make new friends!

I'd packed a picnic, so we could spend the whole day exploring. I also remembered to take The Lovely Belle's mat that I made recently, as her highness doesn't like to sit on a chilly floor, so a fabulous day was had by all.........

If you get the chance to spend a day happily wandering, I can thoroughly recommend this particular little jaunt.

As for other news, a friend has just given birth to twins. I've secretly been working on baby quilts, and was planning on giving you a sneaky peek, until the quilts had been given to the two little recipients.....

However, being the complete muppet that you know and love so well, I COMPLETELY forgot to photograph the finished quilts. So sneaky is all you're getting!
Well, that's me done for this post, so I shall love you and leave you. See you soon. xx

My...Doesn't Time Fly??

Not necessarily because I've been having fun.......more to do with my excellent impersonations of The Headless Chicken. I promise you, one of these days I'm going to open my front door, only to find myself walking back through it!
In a previous life, when I lived in France and Daughters Nos. 1 and 2 were still at that lovely age when the only opinion that mattered was mine, I was A Kept Woman. I ran the household and raised my children, meals were cooked from scratch, laundry baskets were empty. I even had a social life. I EVEN, on occasion, had time (lower your voice here, please) to feel an eensy weensy bit bored.
Hit the Fast Forward button for a decade or so, slowing down to have The Son, speeding back up past The Divorce, and believe you me, there is not a spare nanno-second in my day to have so much as a fleeting glimpse of boredom. I dream of days where I'll have the time to sew.....to peruse patterns to my hearts delight.....However, as I'm a reasonably realistic sort of person, I DO realise that that day will, one day, be mine.......The fact that I'll be 93, blind as a bat and unable to hold a needle has very little to do with it!
I'm aware that I'm wittering. I'm also aware that you, too are very busy, so I'll show you what I have managed to do over the last 2 weeks........

I know that the photo quality is pretty poor (camera is doing that odd blue spot thing in the middle of the image again) but I have got 16 of them. Wonky Star blocks, not poor quality photos. Though if you add up all my poor photos over previous blog posts, I'd probably have 16 of those too.
And now I'm going to leave you, and desperately try to find some more sewing time to squeeze in between now and Christmas....any ideas anyone?? xx

Sunday 13 October 2013

Grey October Day.....

So once the football was over, lunch served and eaten and The Son bullied into finishing his homework, there was only one thing for it....English Paper Piecing.

I'm making progress on my Farmer's Wife Sampler Quilt, and really enjoying it. This is the latest addition.......

Then I worked on a mug mat, for a beginners EPP class next Saturday. I needed to find a simple pattern, but had no particular wish to do anything too traditional, so adapted a Nine Patch. What do you think?

The trickiest bit is to remember to time myself, as obviously the pupils will want to take a finished article home with them at the end of the class, and not just a few scraps of material sewn together. This 7" block has taken me an hour and ten minutes from cutting out the paper templates to finishing the last stitches. Now I've got to sandwich, baste, quilt and bind. I've got another 5 hours available to me, but an hour of that is allocated for lunch. I'll see how I get on. The idea is that the class is completely hand sewn, but I may cheat a little and take my sewing machine along for company....and to attach the binding. A lot will depend on time. Watch this space, and I'll try and remember to show you the finished mat.
And if you're having a bit of a dreary day, look at these.......

...aren't they just lovely? I got them from here.....

I'm positively ITCHING to make something with them....I'm thinking of a Giant Star that I've seen over at judith-justjude.blogspot.com but need to find some solids to go with them. In the meantime, I shall content myself with patting!
But the best news of the day, is that this little lady.......

....REALLY doesn't like walks in the rain! Which means even more excuses to stay snuggled in the warm and dry, stitching happily away......
Thanks for dropping by. See you soon. xx

Just In The Nick Of Time........

I've been so busy, doing nothing much in particular, but lots of little things strung together....you know how it is.....Added to that The Son being off school for 10 days with shingles (bad mother that I am, thought it was just some mosquito bites to start with, and told him to "man up, Princess"!....Hmmm! Not winning Mother Of The Year Award this year, then.....) Also add to the mix severe sleep deprivation, on account of new "puppy" with separation issues, and hopefully you'll understand my lack of blogs recently.....
Anyway...onto what I HAVE been doing. Friends got married yesterday....

......it was a lovely day....a true celebration of love, laughter, families and friendships, and for it another friend, Emma, and I decided on a quilt/picnic rug/throw as a gift. I set to work, but in typical Kirstie style, left it a bit close to the wire.
I hadn't factored in being ssssoooo tired that I couldn't see straight enough to stitch. Traditionally, I stitch late in the evening until the early hours, but Belle has scuppered that routine for a while. I actually managed to sew down the binding about 3/4's of an hour before we were due to leave for the church.
Then came the worry of whether to take the time to wash it or not....but I really love a crinkled quilt, and also live in horror of it running on it's first wash, so it was bundled into my machine on a quick wash with the colour catcher. "Quick wash" my foot! NEVER in the history of man has 1/2 an hour taken sssssoooooo flippin long! And then it needed tumble drying. Even by my standards it was touch and go. I was pulling it from the dryer as The Husband was reversing off the drive!
As the song sort of goes "we got to the church on time", with just enough time to show Emma the finished gift, before popping it in the gift bag.......and B-R-E-A-T-H-E....
So here is the finished article.....

With feet, apparently!

I love this material from Ikea that I used for the back- a real outdoors-y picnic feel to it.
And just because I can, here's a photo of The Sleep Depriver, Belle. It would appear that she is a sun worshipper.....though how she can be comfortable on the bottom stair like that, beats me. Perhaps if she slept a bit more AT NIGHT.......

Thanks for popping by. See you soon. xx

It's Been A While.....

......and I'm sorry about my lack of posts. Sadly, while I was recuperating from my operation, I had to say goodbye to my loyal companion of 11 years, George.......

He was absolutely fine one moment, and paralyzed in his hind quarters the next. As you can imagine, heartbreak put paid to my blogging mojo for a while.
Until today...... Meet Belle.....

Here she is on the journey home from our local RSPCA Centre....a very relaxed young lady! She is a 5 month old Lurcher, and as I type she's doing battle with an antler bone.....The start of a new relationship....and a lot of time-wasting cuddles while she settles in!
But, just in case you think that this has turned into a doggy-blog, let me assure you that I HAVE been doing SOME needlework...even though what I've been working on is secret and I can't really show you yet.....I can at least, show you these.....

Can you see them? They're pins from Clover, for those of us who like to press our seams open. Yay!! I have been using them on my last project, and I can THOROUGHLY recommend them.
Well, I'm really sorry, but I need to go and work on a few more cuddles now. Thanks for popping by.
See you soon. xx

Enforced Rest.......

(.....thought I'd give those of you who know me a little giggle!) For those of you out there, still to make my (dubious?) acquaintance, you should understand that there is NOTHING "enforced" about me resting. Other than the fact that A Medical Person has written it down officially that I must have 2 further weeks off work, to take things easy and not to carry anything for 6 weeks, you should know that "resting" is something I do particularly well.
Now, I was raised to not blow my own trumpet (much!), but I must admit to a fabulous talent in the Procrastination, Watch The World Go By and Sitting Quietly Departments. Seriously. I am probably Olympic Gold Medal Standard. Scarlett O'Hara's line that she'll "think about it tomorrow" rang a very early bell in my heart.....I was possibly 8 years old when I first watched "Gone With The Wind", and it has been one of my mantras ever since.
So. Here I am. Resting. Such hardship. (Actually, if truth be told, I COULD do without the very real, acute pain that appears to be living rather permanently in my pelvic area at the moment. Just saying.) And look what I'm getting done.......

......6 down, 105 still to go.......

Thanks for popping by. See you soon. xx

Not Quite The Adventure I'd Signed Up For........

Yesterday saw me back at the hospital, for yet another hernia repair. It would appear that in the Battle of The Bulge, whereby the Bulge is supposed to be kept at bay by Stomach Muscles, said Stomach Muscles are losing. Pathetically. That or I have Herculean Strength Bulges.....Hmmmmm.....
So there I sat....

....attractively doing what I do best. I got all of these basted......

.....and even managed to get some of them sewn together, before I was called for my operation.....

......and that's where the sewing stopped, and The Adventure began.

Apparently, Hernia quite liked it on the "outside" world, and was quite loath to be pushed and pulled back from whence it came and held there, against it's will, by surgical gauze, which meant that Mr Surgeon had a tougher fight than he'd expected, which in turn lead to a longer operation than anyone had anticipated. And that's where the real excitement started.
For those of you who don't know me, you won't know about my funny heart. When I say "funny", I mean that I have very low blood pressure, and a low pulse rate, which is erratically erratic. For the most part it doesn't bother me, and I don't bother it, though one day I may well need a pace maker, I'll cross that particular bridge when I get to it.
However, yesterday, My Darling Heart decided it didn't want to play ball with the anaesthetic. When I came round from the surgery, all was not well in my world. My pulse decided to slow right down to 40......I could have tried my hand at that very, VERY deep sea diving, where you descend to where the wild things are, had I not been feeling quite so rough. Coupled with that, my blood pressure couldn't be bothered to get up from the floor. The doctors and nurses were having a party, tipping my bed so that my feet were waving down at the rest of me, taking blood pressures and ECG Readings as if they were going out of fashion. Suffice to say, that I was not let out yesterday for good behaviour.
Today dawned brightly at 5.00am, when they decided to remove my catheter.....always a joy, and SO glamorous.....and hoo and haa a little more over various readings. Until finally it was decided that my lack of blood pressure wasn't that exciting after all, and I was sent packing.
Very, VERY sorely, I arrived home to find a beautifully wrapped present waiting for me.....

Thank you, a thousand times thank you, Jane! It was JUST what the doctor ordered.
See you all soon. xx

Of Farmer's Wives and Throwing In The Towel........

Have you ever been working on a project, and the more you worked on it, the less you liked it? I'm afraid to say that that is exactly what has been happening on a Secret Quilt Project that I've been spending every spare minute on, recently. I've tried to like it. Truly I have. I'm not even sure what it is that I don't like about it. Everything started nicely. For a while, things even rolled along swimmingly. And then the rot set in, when I started working on the borders......
It's an EPP project, so progress is understandably slow. I don't mind that. I love EPP. It does, however, lull you into a false sense of security. Because I enjoy the process, I can sit all evening, sewing happily away, convincing myself that all is well with the world. Also, due to the lack of speed, you need quite a while before you see the full effect of the bit you're working on. Anyway...you get the idea....lot's of work, becoming less and less sure that I'm happy with said work.
Finally, last night I Threw In The Towel. I can't show you the thrown article, as I may one day resurrect it, and as I said earlier, it's supposed to be a surprise.
It was inevitable, really, as this has been waiting in the wings, softly calling my name.....

I've wanted to make a Sampler Quilt for a while now, and loved the history linked to this book. I then thought I could make it predominately in blues and creams, with small red accents, as a nod to it's ancestry. Once I'd put the Offending Piece Of Work out of sight (and mind!), I eagerly set to printing off templates and cutting out fabrics. (There are 111 x 6" blocks, so I'm fairly confident that my stash will take quite a beating)
I finished Block No.1 last night......

(It's not really wonky, just a little camera shy, and nervous about lying flat.)

Today I managed to find a quiet 10 minutes, and cut out Block No.2......

I'll give you a wild guess as to what I'll be doing later.....

Thanks for popping by. See you soon. xx

Thursday 22 August 2013

Oooo....Errrrr......Mrs.......

Well, that's that, then. The Partner has been promoted, and from now on shall be known as Husband Dearest.... He's thrilled. As you can imagine.
I'm afraid I have nothing to show you, needlework wise, because of these.....

Daughter No.1 did an amazing job with a French Polish on my nails, for the wedding. (My nails, her talent!). They still look great, so there is NO chance of me wearing a thimble just yet, and risk scratching it. (Them?)
So instead, I'll leave you with a photo of my flowers, that the FABULOUS Jane did for my special day.......

See you soon. xx

Sunday 18 August 2013

Three More Sleeps.......

......until I get married. There are probably 101 Things I Should Be Doing, but as we're having the lowest of the lowest key weddings in history, I'll show you some of my treats from last week's Festival of Quilts instead.........

These beautiful Liberty lawn pieces were just £1 each, and I simply couldn't resist. I have no idea what I'll do with them, but traditionally, I'll keep them for AGES, looking at them, stroking them occasionally, pop them away again...you get the picture....

These mellow scraps were a billy bargain too, at just 50p each.....and will probably be treated in much the same way as the Liberty prints.....

And then, just as I'd given myself a stern talking to, involving much pointing out that I don't need any more fabric, I walked past a stand selling Mini-Charms........

These squares are all from the same fabric collection, measure just 2.5", and are just TOO cute for their own good. Again, I have no thoughts as to what to do with them, but I defy anyone to resist their charm.....hardly my fault then, that a pack made it's way into my bag of goodies....

Well, that wraps up my spending spree at the FOQ. Quite restrained, wouldn't you agree? Of course, I haven't mentioned the fabulous new machines that I drooled over, longingly-but as I need a Lottery win in order to further those particular dreams, you've got off lightly!

Thanks for popping by, my last post in my present maiden state. Just think...the next time we meet I'll be a Mrs..........Oooo....Errrr! xx

Sunday 11 August 2013

Oh Happy Days......

A couple of weeks or so ago, I was lucky enough to win a ticket to The Festival of Quilts, when the lovely Janet ( janetclare.co.uk )was hosting a giveaway. I was so excited, as I NEVER win anything, and had also resigned myself to the fact that I wouldn't be able to attend the festival this year.
Then reality hit The Soon To Be Husband, that he'd be car-less for the day.....followed swiftly by reality hitting The Son, that he'd be stuck in for the day....I'll pause for a moment while you imagine the mithering......
It was at this moment that I had one of my moments of Sheer Genius (I don't get them very often, so I DO try to make the most of them). Football! The Festival is held at the NEC in Birmingham.....throw a stick from there, and you'll be bound to hit a football club or two. A quick search on the internet, showed that Aston Villa were at home to Malaga for a friendly match. Hooray for there being a match nearby. Double Hooray for it being The Soon To Be Husband's national team. Serendipity!
Fast forward a couple of weeks, and yesterday was The Day. I was dropped off and left to my own devices, to browse and linger to my heart's delight, for 6 1/2 hours. And browse and linger I did. To Olympic Gold Medallist Standard.
I made my way straight away to Stand G4, where Janet Clare had her stand, as I was keen to buy her latest book, and to see her before she went off to teach......

If you don't know Janet's work, pop over to her site, and take a look.....it's so PEACEFUL, and VERY pretty. Her work "in the flesh" is SSSOOOO neat......I'm wittering....
Book safely bagged, it was time to look at some quilts.....
This next photo shows a big winner. It won Best Amateur AND Best in Show. It's called "Thank You Father", and was HANDSTITCHED by a Japanese lady, Kyoko Yamauchi. The photos do it NO justice whatsoever.....the craftsmanship is EXQUISITE....

And look at this one, called "Little Stars" by Jean Ball. She absolutely deserved the Highly Commended award beside it....

There was also one that made me think of Loved Ones, not a million miles away, enjoying an entirely different day........

"Football Crazy" was stitched by Kathleen Moore...and made me smile.
By now, I'd walked up and down aisles for AGES and was reaching Awestruck Overload, so lunch was next on the agenda. At this point, I was feeling a teensy bit disgruntled. I follow a lovely blog called Fabadashery ( fabadashery.blogspot.com ) by Frances Meredith, and had watched her progress on a quilt called "Red and White Pinwheels". I knew from her blog, that she'd entered it into the Festival, and was really keen to see it. But I hadn't been able to find it.
I finished lunch, and trundled off again. And walked straight into this......

Yippee! And it was truly lovely.
There was a lot on offer, and I have to admit to more than my fair share of retail therapy (well, it would have been RUDE not to....)...but I think I'll save those photos for another day. This post is already quite long, and I've spotted a couple of you about to fall off your chairs in boredom. Plus the fact that we're going camping in the morning, and the packing needs to be done....back to earth with a bump.
Thanks for popping by. See you soon. Hi De Hi and all that..... xx

Friday 2 August 2013

A Lovely Billy Bargain.......

Today, I had a day to do as I pleased with. Daughters 1 and 2 were at work, and The Son was dispatched with Grandma, to visit a stately home. Which left only The Partner, and he's been playing nicely recently, since his surprise proposal, and organising our wedding for less than a months time. Bless him....I think he's in shock!
Anyway, I took this alignment of the stars as an opportunity to get some fabric shopping done (I've got 60 metres of bunting to make for a client's Golden Wedding Anniversary party), and then to visit www.mollys-den.co.uk . I've wanted to visit for a while, but with my feet firmly planted in reality, I knew that A) I needed to pick my moment, and B) I needed to be Energetic Boy Child free.
It was BRILLIANT! There are two warehouses, filled to the brim with vintage paraphernalia...You name it, they probably have it. Had I won the lottery recently, I could have spent a small fortune. As it was, I came home with a Billy Bargain.
For the princely sum of £2, just look at what I bought.....

It shows a selection of the quilts held at the V & A Museum, gives a synopsis of each quilt's history, and then explains how to make them yourself, with the templates clearly printed.

The work involved is amazing, the patterns intricate, the pieces tiny....and most were made in the 19th century. It makes me feel very small....just a tiny link in the wide world of patchwork.
There was one design that caught my eye, as being strangely familiar.......

If you pop over to a blog that I follow, quiltsalott.blogspot.com , you'll see what I mean.....
Catch up with you soon. Enjoy the sunshine. xx
